How do I get a key?
Sign in with Google and a free key is made at once, with 50 calls a day and no card asked for. It is on your account page, where you can also make more keys, name them and revoke one.
Where does the key go in a request?
In the header:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY. A key put in the address is refused with a 400, so it never ends up in logs or browser history. The authentication guide shows it in full. What changes when I move to another plan?
Nothing in your code. The key stays the same and sees more, or less, at once. Every plan answers the same JSON; a field above your plan comes back as null with a note saying which plan unlocks it.
A key may have leaked. What do I do?
Revoke it on your account page and make a new one. A revoked key stops working at once, and its usage stays in your history.
Calls and limits
I got a 429. What now?
You reached a limit. The
Retry-After header says how many seconds to wait; rate_limited is the per-minute limit and quota_exceeded the daily one, which resets at 00:00 UTC. Nothing is charged. The rate limits guide shows how to back off. What counts as a call?
Each answered request to the API or the MCP server. A refused request is not counted, and
GET /v1/usage, which tells a key where it stands, never is.Do AI assistants share my limits?
Yes. The MCP tools use your key, your plan and your limits, exactly as the API does. The MCP guide shows how to connect one.
How do I page through long lists?
Lists take
page and per_page; meta.total_pages says how many there are. The pages guide has a loop that stops on the last page. The data
How far back do the draws go?
Every round of every edition we hold, back to 1899, for all five events and para badminton. The coverage page lists each series and its first year.
Why does a ranking from 2020 look old?
The world ranking was frozen from 16 March 2020 until the tour returned in January 2021, so no list was published then.
/v1/rankings marks those dates with meta.frozen and gives the age of the list in meta.list_age_days.A result or a name is wrong. Can you fix it?
Yes. Open a ticket with the match or player id and what it should say. We correct it so the fix stays through every rebuild after it.
Why is a player's height or hand empty?
We only give what is published for that player. An empty field means it is not known, never a guess.
Live and webhooks
How quickly do live scores update?
While a match is in play, scores are read about every 15 seconds and prices every minute. On the Live plan, webhooks tell you the moment a match starts or finishes, so you do not need to poll.
My webhook endpoint is not being called.
Webhooks are on the Live plan. Check the endpoint is HTTPS and answers 2xx within 10 seconds; each delivery and its tries are listed on your account page.
Billing
What will I see on my card statement?
Charges appear as DEVELOPERDATA.NET, in US dollars. To match a charge to an account, use the charge lookup.
How do I cancel?
From your account, at any time. The plan runs to the end of the month you paid for, then your key carries on as a free key.
How do I ask for a refund?
Through the refund form, which opens a billing ticket. When we refund, and how long it takes to reach your card, is on the refunds page.
No answer matches that. Open a ticket and we will reply here.
